Our Mission
Renaissance Art and Science Studio was founded in 2024 by Artist Leslie Ouyang to bring together artistic creativity and practical implementation through inspiring classes and workshops. It is a welcoming space to explore your potential, recharge, and create joyful memories.
From the Founder
Welcome to my artistic world, where Eastern tradition meets Western expression. Born and raised in Shanghai, I began my creative journey with self-taught Chinese brush painting in childhood. During my college years, I expanded into Western watercolor and three-dimensional art, bridging two artistic languages that continue to shape my work today. In 1997, I was admitted to the Masters of Fine Art Degree Program at Donghua University majoring in Fashion Design in Shanghai. After immigrating to the California Bay Area in the late 1990s, I continued creating while also pursuing a parallel path in science and technology. In 2003, I received a Master of Science degree in Software Engineering in Silicon Valley and spent two decades working in tech and science management—painting whenever time allowed.
Since 2018, I found my interests have shifted to fine art. So I joined local galleries and venues, such as Blackhawk Gallery, Alameda County Fair, Bishop Ranch City Center and a few businesses. In 2024 I opened the Renaissance Art & Science club my own venue as a space for classes, workshops, and programs designed to inspire creativity, self-discovery, and human-centered growth. Drawing from my multicultural background and cross-disciplinary experience, I guide individuals to reconnect with their strengths, passions, and sense of joy.
Influenced by both Eastern and Western cultures, my work continues to evolve. I always found joy in watercolor which reminds me of my eastern root in brush painting, a feeling of home and happiness, while decades of American life allows my creativities to grow beyond the boundaries. I believe art is more than a skill; it is a way of life - creating consistently, seeking inspiration, and finding harmony between art and everyday life.
